Welcome, Washington's newest $100 million man, Albert Haynesworth. You've been a godsend to Tennessee the past two seasons, but will you be the same guy for my Washington Redskins? You see, you've made my 'Skins the offseason champs once again and I'm anxious to see how you do here. Will you still be yourself when you step onto the grass Fedex Field or will the culture of underacheiving here get to you? Will you follow in the footsteps of Bruce Smith, or trip over your own feet like the dancing defensive end Jason Taylor? As much as I want to see you flourish here, I'm worried about you Albert. I'm worried about the fact that you didn't turn into the beast that you are until your contract was about to expire. I'm worried about the fact that you've been in one of the best defensive systems in all of football the past couple of years, and now you're starting over. I'm worried about a lot of things Albert, I just need to know that you're going to be the same guy you were down in Nashville.
Please don't stomp on my head,
Quinn Casteel
P.S.- What do you think about playing right tackle?

Thanks for the warm welcome Quinn,
ReplyDeleteFor one, you dont have to worry about me underachieving, I am not Adam Archuleta, nor am I Jason Taylor. I have a certain work ethic that none of those guys had. I am a self made man, and I will flourish in Gregg Blache's scheme. I bull rush the guards and center, consistently drawing double and even triple teams. That will free up guys like Andre Carter to make plays. Also, tackles arn't system players like linebackers are. We just have to get under the pads of the center on the run, or blow by him on the pass. Yes it is true that I have had some anger management issues, but I'm not here to talk about the past. I am here to talk about the future, and as the Redskins have done a great job plugging up the wholes in the trenches this off-season, I think that we are a very good playoff team. I make a 4th rated defense that much better. Just look at ESPN's AccuScore thing, it projects me as adding 2.2 wins, by myself!!! That would put the Skins at 9-7 or 10-6 and into the playoffs, not even counting the other moves made by the team. If you look at Peter King's article for SI.com today, you will see that my contract was essentially $48 for 4 years, much more reasonable, and not a very big risk for someone with Dan Snyder's pockets. As for the head stomping thing, I believe you are misremembering. I was pissed at Gurode for going after my recently hurt knee, and came out of that incident a much changed person. Look Chris, I promise you that I will be the exact same guy in DC that I was in Nashville, if not a better one.
Now Wearing League Mandated Turf Shoes,
Albert Haynesworth
